4. Description Abstract

An attempt is made to evaluate the passive earth pressure on rigid retaining wall under static loading condition. The analysis is based on Horizontal Slices Method using c-Φ nature of backfill and the analysis generates non-linear failure surface. The effects of variation of all the parameters have been studied in detail and it is seen that the shape of the rupture surface may be hogging or sagging in nature. The results have been given both tabular as well as graphical representations.
